CONSUL GENERAL OF ARMENIA IN LOS ANGELES AMBASSADOR ARMEN BAIBOURTIAN MET WITH LOS ANGELES CITY COUNCILMEMBER BOB BLUMENFIELD

GLENDALE - On June 7, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles Ambassador Armen Baibourtian held a virtual meeting with Los Angeles City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield. Ambassador Baibourtian expressed his deep delight to Bob Blumenfield for years of pro-Armenian stance and efficient work in the Los Angeles City Council. Armen Baibourtian also thanked Bob Blumenfield for supporting the resolutions adopted in the Los Angeles City Council regarding Armenia and Artsakh during the Second Artsakh War and the post-war period. Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, in his turn, highly appreciated the close bonds with the Armenian community of the 3rd electoral district of Los Angeles as part of his constituency.

Councilmember Blumenfield noted that he was impressed by his visits to Armenia and Artsakh, where he joined Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Krekorian years ago on the latter’s initiative. Furthermore, he expressed his readiness to further continue his close cooperation with the Armenian community. He stressed the importance of the consistent years-long work dedicated towards the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. He personally was part of those efforts as both a member of the California State Assembly and a member of the Los Angeles City Council.

The interlocutors discussed the possibilities and prospects for the development of the Los Angeles-Yerevan Sister Cities program and the expansion of cooperation within its framework, drawing on the experience gained from working with other cities. In this regard, Councilmember Blumenfield made concrete suggestions, based on which their staffs will start working on.

Councilmember Bob Blumenfield of the U.S. Democratic Party was elected to the Los Angeles City Council in 2013. He represents the 3rd Council District, which spans the northwest portion of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley, including the communities of Canoga Park, Reseda, Tarzana, Winnetka and Woodland Hills. Prior to his election to the City Council, Bob Blumenfield served in the California State Assembly from 2008 – 2013 working for all of the San Fernando Valley communities that he continues to represent.
