On February 21, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles Ambassador Armen Baibourtian participated in an event dedicated to “The Book” film. The concept of the film was conceived and is being realized by renowned film director Alexander Atanessian and producer Armen Hambardzumyan. The script of the film is based on a story relating to the period of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Turkey in 1915, when by the virtue of two Armenian elderly women the “Moush Homilarium” manuscript from the Mush Holy Apostles (Arakelots) Monastery was rescued in 1915.

The Consul General welcomed the idea of creating “The Book” film. He noted that the film is yet another opportunity to present our sophisticated culture to the world, a culture that transcended the depth of thousands of years. We should not only be known as a nation with a tragic history, but also as creative nation of creators. Moreover, in his speech, Ambassador Baibourtian said: “Many may ask whether this is the right time for a film about the Armenian Genocide to be made in this post-war period. My answer is definitely yes, it is even important, because this kind of a film about the Genocide is aimed at strengthening our identity and contributing to the unity of our people”.
