CONSUL GENERAL IN LOS ANGELES AMBASSADOR BAIBOURTIAN MET WITH THE AMAA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/CEO ZAVEN KHANJIAN

GLENDALE - On January 14, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles Ambassador Armen Baibourtian met with the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) Executive Director/CEO Zaven Khanjian. Items relating to the Armenian community in the Western United States were discussed during the working meeting held at the Consulate General. Zaven Khanjian presented the recent activities and upcoming programs of the AMAA, in particular, the current and future projects implemented in Artsakh and Armenia. He said that, in addition to the regular budgetary programs, the Armenian Missionary Association of America has initiated new educational, social, spiritual, and humanitarian projects for the youth of Armenia and Artsakh. A special program is planned to renovate damaged homes in Artsakh and to make them habitable for the post war returning residents. Executive Director Zaven Khanjian informed that the Avedisian School (located in Yerevan) of the Armenian Missionary Association of America has reopened its doors for the children of Artsakh and Armenia, offering free educational programs in the field of art. Consul General Baibourtian expressed his appreciation of the work being done by the Armenian Missionary Association of America and the upcoming programs, expressing the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia to the initiatives of the organization.

Ambassador Baibourtian, in his turn, informed Zaven Khanjian the about programs of the Consulate General of Armenia for 2021 focusing on several specific projects. During the meeting, the ideas of joint projects of the Consulate General, the Armenian Missionary Association of America and other community organizations in the field of public education were also discussed.
