CONSUL GENERAL OF ARMENIA IN LOS ANGELES AMBASSADOR ARMEN BAIBOURTIAN MET WITH CALIFORNIA ASSEMBLYMEMBER LAURA FRIEDMAN

GLENDALE - Consul General of Armenia Ambassador Armen Baibourtian had a meeting with Laura Friedman, member of the California State Assembly. The venue of the meeting was the Consulate General. Ambassador Baibourtian presented in detail the key facts relating to the Azerbaijani hostilities on the Armenian border in Tavush, and subsequent provocative actions by Azerbaijanis in California.

Consul General Baibourtian and the Assemblymember Friedman also referred to the Framework Agreement on Cooperation between Armenia and the State of California, which was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Governor of California Gavin Newsom in September 2019 in the presence of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in New York. Armen Baibourtian and Laura Friedman noted that the agreement provided a fertile soil for close cooperation. Ambassador Baibourtian briefed about the negotiations and relevant discussions on the priorities of the Armenia-California bilateral cooperation.

Consul General Baibourtian appreciated the work of Assemblymember Friedman in the California Armenian Legislative Caucus. Laura Friedman is a board member of the Caucus. Armen Baibourtian and Laura Friedman emphasized the importance of multidimensional cooperation between Armenia and California through implementation of mutually beneficial programs.

Laura Friedman represents the 43rd Assembly District, encompassing the cities with largest Armenian population in Southern California: Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, Little Armenia in Hollywood, La Crescenta-Montrose, La Canada Flintridge, etc. Laura Friedman chairs the California Assembly Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Select Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. She is a member of the Standing Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media, as well as Water, Parks, and Wildlife, Human Services, and Transportation. Prior to her election to the Assembly in 2016, Friedman was a member of the Glendale City Council. She also served as Mayor of Glendale from 2011 to 2012.
