“Pillars of Today Building: Pillars of Tomorrow”

On October 7, President of the American University of Armenia (AUA) Dr. Armen Der Kiureghian and his team organized an event in Los Angeles titled “Pillars of Today Building: Pillars of Tomorrow.” It was hosted by Yervant Demirjian at his Beverly Hills residence. Consul General Designee Dr. Armen Baibourtian gave a speech during the gathering. He highlighted the fact that since the very first days of Armenia’s independence, the Armenian government has valued the establishment in the country of an American educational institution affiliated with the University of California system. The Consul General touched upon the foundation stones of AUA that significantly stipulated further achievements of the university. Among those he mentioned the substantial support of the government of newly independent Armenia and gifting of the main building of the university. In its turn, the U.S. Congress allocated $9,6 million as an endowment for AUA as part of its earmarked assistance to Armenia. In addition, Dr. Baibourtian emphasized the outstanding role of AGBU for AUA, along with dedication of generous individuals and professionals who paved the road for AUA’s success. Before ending his diplomatic tenure in the U.S., Ambassador Grigor Hovhannisyan visited Los Angeles and also attended this event.
