A book drive for the Armenian collection of LACL

10 January, 2018

To celebrate Armenian Christmas, the Community Affairs Council of the Consulate General in cooperation with the Armenian Community organized a book drive intending to enrich the Armenian collection of LA Central Library.

The donated books cover Armenian history, philosophy, politics, science, culture, education, Armenian language and contemporary Armenia. "I am certain that such initiatives will help promote better understanding between our Nations bringing the bilateral cooperation forward to a higher level," said Consul Armella Shakaryan in her speech.

General Manager of LA Public Library John Szabo supported the event and mentioned that it is impossible to envision LA Public Library and its 72 branches without Armenian books, movies and materials which represent the significant role of the Armenian American Community.

Christine Jerian, a member of the Consulate's Community Affairs Council emphasized that the efforts to enrich the Armenian section will continue all year.
