CONSUL GENERAL OF ARMENIA IN LOS ANGELES AMBASSADOR ARMEN BAIBOURTIAN HOSTED A MEETING WITH AGBU ASBEDS

GLENDALE - On September 3, Consul General of Armenia Ambassador Armen Baibourtian hosted a meeting with the Armenian General Benevolent Union Asbeds' Executive Committee. The AGBU Asbeds briefed the Consul General about their current activities and some philanthropic efforts, including a project with the American University of Armenia, assistance to the Lebanese Armenians, etc.

Ambassador Baibourtian presented the key developments in Armenia, provided a comprehensive information about the Azerbaijani attack in Tavush in July, and its aftermath, as well as the resolute efforts to enhance defense capabilities of the Armenian Armed Forces. They also referred to the devastating explosion in Beirut in August, its tragic consequences, discussing the extremely difficult situation of the Armenian Lebanese, the prospects of their repatriation, and the highly successful telethon organized by the Pan Armenian Council of Western U.S. on August 30th.

The Consul General answered many questions of the participants relating to the state governance in Armenia, reforms of the educational programs, situation with the pandemic, etc.

As a conclusion of a very cordial meeting, it was agreed to have regular interactions.
