CONSUL GENERAL OF ARMENIA IN LOS ANGELES HOLDS REMOTE MEETING WITH LOS ANGELES DEPUTY MAYOR

On September 1st, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles Ambassador Armen Baibourtian had a remote meeting with Ambassador Nina Hachigian, Deputy Mayor of International Affairs for the City of Los Angeles. During the one-hour video call, Ambassador Baibourtian presented the details of the hostilities perpetrated by Azerbaijan in the Tavush region of Armenia in July of the current year. He also referred to the provocative and desecrating actions committed by the Azerbaijanis, which took place in California, as well as in other U.S. states and countries in the month of July.

The interlocutors also discussed a number of items relating to the cooperation of the Consulate General with the Government of Los Angeles focusing more on the possibility of organizing remote meetings with various departments of the Yerevan Municipality; this will further stimulate the goal of advancing cooperation between the two "sister cities".

From 2014 to 2017, Nina Hachigian served as U.S. Ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). She was awarded the State Department’s Superior Honor Award for her service. She is also a founder of WASA, Women Ambassadors Serving America, a group of some 200 current and former Ambassadors.
