Ambassador Armen Baibourtian, Consul General of Armenia visited San Francisco Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO - On October 5-7, upon invitation of the Armenian community, Ambassador Armen Baibourtian, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles, accompanied by his spouse Yvette Baibourtian, visited the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California to participate in celebration of the 28th Anniversary of Armenia's Independence. A festive reception was held in honor of Consul General Baibourtian by Dr. Hagop and Mrs. Suzy Kouyumjians. Prominent representatives of local Armenian community attended the event. The main celebration of the Independence Day was held at St. Andrew Armenian Church in Cupertino. Dr. Armen Baibourtian was the keynote speaker of the event. He emphasized in his speech the significant role that the San Francisco Bay Area Armenian community played in supporting our homeland since the earthquake of the 1988 and the declaration of Independence in 1991. Accompanied by one of the community leaders Mr. Rostom Aintablian, Ambassador Baibourtian and his spouse also visited the Krouzian-Zekarian-Vasbouragan Armenian school in the San Francisco, which is the only daily Armenian school in the Bay Area. Consul General Baibourtian got acquainted with the campus. The administration and the teachers of the KZV school presented the curriculum that has been educating Armenian children in the Bay Area since 1980. The students of the school welcomed the guests with performances of Armenian poetry recitation, songs, and dance.
