The events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence organized by the Consulate General of Armenia in Los Angeles concluded with a final celebration. The evening took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel Ballroom, with many American political representatives, community organizational leaders, and public figures present at the event. Upon greeting the guests, The Consul General of Armenia Sergey Sarkisov shared his gratitude to Armenian and Foreign leaders for joining in celebration of Armenia’s Independence. “I’d like to wish our motherland, Armenia and Artsakh, prosperity and consolidation in our Independence. May God bless Armenia and Artsakh,” noted the Consul General. For the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Independence, Prime-Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan addressed a speech to the attendees: “I want to congratulate all of you on this beautiful occasion, and to share my gratitude to all the Armenian-American organizations, establishments and unions of the community for 25 year long support of Armenia, and I want to ensure, that together we will continue to build the future of Armenia,” noted the Prime Minister in his message. Some of the honored guests at the event included US Congressman Adam Schiff, Los Angeles City Council Members Paul Krekorian, Paul Cortez, Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, Chief of Glendale Police Department Robert Castro, Deputy Chief of Protocol of Los Angeles County Lourdes Saab, the Consul Generals of Japan, Estonia, Egypt, Iraq, Argentina, Chile, Czech Republic, Germany, Romania, Lebanon in Los Angeles and their deputies, Director of US Department of State in Los Angeles James Paravonian, Mayor of City of Montebello Jack Hadjinian, California Assembly member Kacho Achajian and many other guests. The Master of Ceremonies of the evening was Araksya Karapetyan, a TV host and anchor for FOX 11 news, who noted: “The rebirth of Armenia occurred during the most difficult times, when the wounds of the 1988 earthquake in Spitak had still not healed and the conflict revolving Artsakh had risen. Nonetheless, Armenian people carried an unbreakable spirit and exceptional will to overcome such difficult challenge and to declare its Independence on September 21st, 1991. The past 25 years have proven, that the Armenian nation and the unity Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora trinity can overcome any challenges thrown at them with pride and dignity,” noted Araksya Karapetyan in her speech.

“I am happy to join this evening. The economic development of Armenia, the security along the borders of contact with Azerbaijan, and deliverance of the hostile attitude of Turkey towards Armenia must be a priority for Diaspora and for all of us. I am happy to be representing the Armenian community and their interests, and I do best of my abilities to contribute to the solutions of these conflicts,” noted in his speech US Congressman Adam Schiff. The Belfry Symphony Orchestra performed throughout the course of the evening, along with Vardan and Siranush Gevorgyans’ dance academy.
