Crimes Against Humanity - Never Again

On August 18, on the initiative of Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors awarded certificates to CAHNA (Crimes Against Humanity - Never Again) organization president Harout Sassounian and to Agassi Vardanyan, the person who brought people's attention to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide with a 55 day of hunger strike.

Deputy Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles V. Mkrtoumian expressed his gratitude to the Los Angeles County Board of Governors for the initiative.
-The Genocide that not being timely condemned paved the way to the other genocides or acts of genocide that have since taken place. It is in this context that we highly commend Agassi Vardanyan’s personal commitment through the most peaceful means of protest as hunger strike to once again draw the attention of millions of people to the importance of tolerance, protection of basic human rights, to the necessity of eliminating of crimes against humanity and restoration of justice. Because of past failures should not justify crimes and violence today, said V. Mkrtoumian.

-The work done by CAHNA organization and Agassi Vardanyan in educating the world on Armenian and other genocides is appreciable. Today, because of the denial of that crime, new crimes against humanity keep happening in the Middle East and Africa. 100th anniversary is the right moment to inform the world of the facts that many ignore, said Michael Antonovich.
