Blessing of Khachkar at Beshgeturian Center of Tekeyan Cultural Association

On June 22, Karen Israyelyan, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles, participated in the ceremony of blessing a stone cross (khachkar) at the Beshegeturian center of Tekeyan Cultural Association in Altadena, California. Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, blessed the khachkar.

During his speech, Consul General Israyelyan presented the purport of the khachkar as unparalleled element of the Armenian identity, then expressed his appreciation to Varazdat Hambardzumian, the creator of the khachkar and Mr. Dean Shahinian, benefactor from Washington D.C who has donated it to Tekeyan Cultural Association.

Representatives of the Consulate General, Armenian community, local authorities took part in the event.
