CONSUL GENERAL OF ARMENIA IN LOS ANGELES AMBASSADOR ARMEN BAIBOURTIAN MET WITH THE CALIFORNIA SECRETARY OF STATE DR SHIRLEY WEBER

GLENDALE - On May 5, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles Ambassador Armen Baibourtian held a virtual meeting with the California Secretary of State Shirley Weber.

The Armenian Consul General extended to Dr. Weber his congratulations on her appointment in this crucial position in the California government. The interlocutors discussed affairs pertinent to the Armenia-California cooperation agenda. Ambassador Baibourtian presented the outline of the upcoming key Armenian programs and projects in California, including the project of the Armenian American Museum, with its groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for July of this year. The California Secretary of State serves as a trustee of the California Museum, and the latter was under the development of the Secretary of State's office.

Dr. Shirley Nash Weber was nominated to serve as California Secretary of State by Governor Gavin Newsom on December 22, 2020. Secretary Weber served four terms as California Assembly member. She chaired the State Assembly Elections and Redistricting Committee, Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Public Safety, and Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Health. Dr. Weber was the first African American to serve as the chair of the Assembly Budget Committee.
