Meeting With His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian

GLENDALE - On July 2, Ambassador Armen Baibourtian, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles had a meeting at the Consulate General with Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America. At their restarted regular face-to-face meeting, the interlocutors discussed the challenges facing the Armenian community in the Western United States since the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. The interlocutors discussed issues that emerged amid pandemic relating to the vulnerable groups within the Armenian community as well as challenges in the public, social, and spiritual spheres. They also spoke about generating possible solutions to overcome those challenges. Ambassador Baibourtian and Archbishop Derderian mutually presented the current activities by the Consulate General and the Diocesan Center along with plans being developed in new circumstances. They also touched upon the possibility of resuming programs aimed at the educational and cultural upbringing of the young generation in the community and introducing a novel didactic mode that can be embedded in practice.
