CONSULATE GENERAL OF ARMENIA HELD A RECEPTION IN HONOR OF LILIT MAKUNTS, HEAD OF "MY STEP" FACTION IN THE ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT

GLENDALE - On November 19, the Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles, Ambassador Armen Baibourtian hosted a reception in honor of Lilit Makunts, Deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia, Head of "My Step" Parliamentary Faction, and Chairperson of the Armenian-American Parliamentarian Friendship Group. Community leaders, representatives of public, political and religious organizations, and local officials attended the reception. In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Baibourtian emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy. In this context, he appreciated the work of the Armenian-American Friendship Group and emphasized that the efforts in this direction further enhance the Armenian-American bilateral relations that are on the level of strategic dialogue.

Hon. Lilit Makunts presented the results of the official visit of the Friendship Group to Washington D.C followed by her meetings in Los Angeles. She highlighted that parliamentary diplomacy is one of the effective platforms for developing Armenian-American relations. "With the MPs included in the Armenian-American Friendship Group, we come up with many tangible steps and proposals to deepen bilateral relations," Lilit Makunts said. The leader of the parliamentary majority also said that the relations are being developed in different directions - from cyber security to trade. Answering to numerous questions from the audience, Lilit Makunts also presented the new realities in Armenia and the process of development of democratic institutions in the country.
